Overview
Vietnam is the world’s fourth-largest cinnamon producer behind China, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, yet the leading cinnamon exporter in the world. Global demand for cinnamon, especially organic cinnamon, is increasing rapidly, however exports from leading cinnamon-producing countries have not yet increased to meet that demand.
While cinnamon production in Vietnam, particularly in Lao Cai province, has expanded significantly, there is potential to further increase income and productivity, especially for ethnic minority women. GREAT aims to support this growth by improving sector coordination, policy, and market access for cinnamon producers, with a focus on empowering women and ethnic minority groups in Lao Cai province.
