Overview

In Vietnam, digital inclusion and transformation is rapidly evolving, driven by government initiatives and a burgeoning tech-savvy population, positioning the country as a dynamic hub for innovation and digital economy growth. In Lao Cai and Son La provinces, digital inclusion and transformation is gathering pace, led by public sector and e-commerce services. This is providing all women, including ethnic minority women, in business with opportunities to enhance their capacity to capitalise on business opportunities and to increase their income.

There is a clear opportunity to empower ethnic minority women, including those living with disabilities, to fully participate in the rapid digital inclusion and transformation process. In collaboration with digital service providers, universities, and businesses in Son La and Lao Cai, GREAT 2 is supporting ethnic minority women and people with disabilities to better leverage the digital economy and achieve greater economic and social well-being.

Key interventions

The following intervention areas support digital inclusion and transformation across both agriculture and tourism sectors:

Capacity building for key interested market actors in digital transformation with a business-centered approach.

Facilitating connections between stakeholders, such as local medium, small and micro enterprises and those owned by ethnic minority women with digital solutions and business development service providers.

Facilitating the development of the ecosystem for digital transformation by bringing together local and national level service providers and facilitating investment and business cooperation opportunities in Son La and Lao Cai.

Developing a network of “group mentors” with more advanced digital inclusion skills to provide on-the-spot support and coaching on digital skills and promote self-learning of ethnic minority women in online platforms.

Promoting digitalised training among public and private actors who can provide knowledge and skills training on agriculture and tourism for producer groups through developing specific training content and self-learning modules on digital inclusion.
